Apple David addresses criticism over rumored romance with younger basketball player

Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) courtside reporter Apple David addressed criticism surrounding her rumored romance with Letran Knights basketball player Chad Gammad, saying there is nothing wrong with dating someone younger when two people genuinely get along.
Rumors about the 34-year-old reporter and the 18-year-old athlete circulated online after netizens noticed Apple frequently going out with a mystery man who resembled the Letran Knights point guard.
Speculations intensified after Apple soft-launched her relationship with the same mystery man on Facebook on Friday, May 22, prompting reactions from netizens in the comments section. Some users claimed she was dating Gammad, while others said they would unfollow her on social media.
Amid the online discussions, Apple appeared unfazed as she addressed criticism during a TikTok live session. However, she did not directly confirm or deny her rumored relationship with Gammad.
Clips from the livestream were later reposted by netizens on X.
“Hindi talaga nila nage-gets no? Sa buhay ba natin, lagi tayong nakakapili? Paano 'yung mga dumating bigla na sitwasyon and you just can't explain it? I cannot explain it. I guess kahit anong ingay n'yo or [kahit] iparating n'yo sa ibang universe 'tong issue, kahit ano pang bashing ang abutin niyan, kayo lang ang nase-stress,” she said.

Apple also responded to comments criticizing her for allegedly “dating an 18-year-old,” though she did not mention Gammad by name.
She argued that being 18 years old does not mean someone is incapable of falling in love, despite discussions online about brain development at that age.
“Masama bang bigyan ng chance? Nag-click eh. Anong gagawin ko?” she said. “So 'yung mga 18 years old (sic) bawal mag-girlfriend and boyfriend kasi hindi pa fully developed (ang frontal lobe)? Or nagkataon lang kasi na mas matanda ako kaya issue. Ano bang point dito?” Apple said.
Meanwhile, Chad has not commented on the issue.
Apple was a University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Adamson Falcons courtside reporter prior to becoming a PBA courtside reporter.

maybe start by NOT dating someone who only recently turned 18 when you're already 34? 😭 pic.twitter.com/6ljO15H3h3
