Ate Gay gives health update, tumor shrinks after therapy

In a Facebook post, Ate Gay revealed that the lump in his neck had already shrunk just three days after undergoing radiation therapy.
“[Ang bilis] ng pagliit ng bukol in 3 days. 10cm naging 8.5. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat na nanalangin ng aking [agarang] paggaling. Patuloy lang po,” he wrote.
Earlier, in an episode of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Ate Gay opened up about how he discovered that he was suffering from stage 4 cancer. He also shared that he initially asked for the lump in his neck to be removed, but was advised against it because of the risk of excessive bleeding.
Following the KMJS episode, support poured in for the comedian. His treatment at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center was sponsored, while another benefactor provided a place for him to stay near the hospital during his radiation and chemotherapy sessions.
Grateful for the help he has received, Ate Gay fondly refers to his benefactors as “anghel.” He continues to express his gratitude to fans and supporters while asking for their prayers as he undergoes treatment.
In September 2025, Ate Gay shared his cancer diagnosis in an episode of KMJS, stating that he had been recently diagnosed with mucoepidermoid squamous cell carcinoma, usually originating from the salivary glands and the lungs. Composed of both mucus-secreting cells and squamous (epidermoid) cells, it may also develop in other glands, such as the lacrimal and tracheobronchial glands, according to the Oral Cancer Foundation website.
