After making the country proud in the Paris Olympics, two-time Olympic medalist Carlos Yulo will now serve the country after joining the Philippine Navy as part of the reserve force.

Carlos was inducted into the Philippine Navy Reserve Force as Petty Officer 1st Class by Naval Reserve Commander MGen. Joseph Ferrous Cuison PN(M) on October 1 at the Navy Headquarters.

During his induction, Carlos expressed how proud he is to have the privilege of being enlisted in the Philippine Navy, adding to that it is a recognition he “never expected in [his] lifetime.

“Wearing this Navy uniform fills me with immense pride. With all my heart, I thank the Philippine Navy for this prestigious recognition. I will uphold its core values and inspire today's youth, showing them that through sports, they too can serve our country,” Carlos said.

MGen Cuison also delivered a message from Philippine Navy Flag Officer in Command Vice Adm. Toribio Adaci Jr., commending Carlos' PO1 appointment.

“Your dedication, discipline, and drive made you a champion on the world stage, and now, you bring those same qualities to the Philippine Navy. We know that when you commit to something, you give it your all,” MGen Cuison said.

The Naval Reserve Commander added from Vice Adm. Adaci's message, “I am confident you will do the same as a reservist, standing alongside men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting and uplifting our nation.”
