South Korean dancer-actor Cha Hyun-seung, who rose to global fame through his appearances in Netflix shows Single's Inferno and Physical: 100, has revealed that he is currently battling leukemia.

The 34-year-old star shared the news on Saturday, September 27, via Instagram, where he posted photos of himself in the hospital with a shaved head. Alongside the images, Hyun-seung wrote two heartfelt messages, one in Korean and another in English, opening up about his health struggles for the first time.

"Hello, this is Cha Hyunseung. In early June, my life came to an abrupt halt as I was rushed to the emergency room.

"Until then, I had passed the final auditions for all the projects I'd dreamed of and was running toward my goals, but a diagnosis of leukemia brought everything to a stop."

He continued to share his initial denial at the reality of his situation. "At first, I couldn't even accept it, and I couldn't tell anyone. Every day was filled with fear and confusion."

Hyun-seung said he eventually accepted his cancer battle and is now receiving treatment. "Now, with time, I finally feel ready to speak honestly. I'm currently undergoing treatment, fighting quietly day by day."

"The road ahead is still long, but I am determined to overcome it. My dreams and passion are still alive, and I'm holding on, waiting for the day I can stand once again on stage and in front of the camera."

He also thanked everyone for showing support and vowed to do his best to recover.

"To everyone who has supported me, knowingly or unknowingly, I offer my heartfelt gratitude. I will overcome this and return stronger and warmer than before. Today, I'm practicing hope."

Hyun-seung's message highlights both the shock of his sudden diagnosis and his determination to keep pursuing his dreams despite the challenges ahead.

Before his health setback, the actor had been preparing for a series of new projects, having successfully passed auditions for roles he had long aspired to. He is also widely known in the entertainment industry as a professional dancer who has performed with top K-pop acts and captivated audiences with his charisma on reality shows.

Well wishes have since poured in from celebrities in South Korea and beyond, including K-Pop Demon Hunters star Arden Cho, who wrote: “Wishing you strength and speedy recovery! Fighting! You're young and strong, you got this!”
