Chie Filomeno shares her truth amid social media criticism

Chie Filomeno has set the record straight once again after her name made waves on social media for being linked to Matthew Lhuillier, following her breakup with actor and longtime boyfriend Jake Cuenca.
In an Instagram post, the actress chose to speak for the last time and clear her reputation online by sharing her truth and personal experience as the breadwinner of her family.
“Since I started in the entertainment industry, I've always known that being in the public eye means being open to judgment - both online and offline. Pero gaya ng lagi kong sinasabi: I am a public figure, but I am not public property. I want to repeat that, kasi lately, my name and reputation have been questioned again because of recent issues,” she wrote.
Setting things straight, she continued, “This will be the last time na magsasalita ako about this issue, and I'm choosing to respond with calm, care, and clarity. So, let me clear the air, again.”
Chie shared that her story began in their humble home in Kamuning, where she started cosplaying and doing commercial modeling at the age of 11 to earn her own allowance. She said that she eventually found her way into acting, performing, and becoming a social media influencer.
She added, “By the time I was 15, I had officially become the sole provider for my family.”
Trying out cosplaying, modeling, and acting, she said, allowed her to express her creativity while supporting her loved ones--a role she has always taken to heart.
“Kaya masakit para sa akin at sa pamilya ko kapag may mga kwentong walang basehan na pinapalabas na kung anu-ano,” she explained. “Wala po itong katotohanan. Marangal po akong nagtatrabaho para sa mga minamahal ko.”
“It's unfair for me to be judged like this, especially as someone who has worked hard just to make her loved ones proud. Anyone who has carried that kind of responsibility will understand how heavy it can be,” Chie expressed.
Amid the online criticism she has been receiving, Chie expressed gratitude to all the brands, designers, partners, and supporters who continue to trust and believe in her.
She highlighted that every collaboration and opportunity reminds her that “hard work and integrity will always matter more than noise,” adding that these are the values she will always hold on to.
She continued, “And when it comes to my personal life, my previous relationship was public, and I'm thankful for that chapter. But now, I've found new connections and safe spaces that I want to protect from unnecessary attention. This time, I'm choosing peace and privacy.
“And when the time comes, you'll see what love looks like when it's nurtured quietly. For now, this is what I can share - my truth, my story, my peace. I hope I won't have to explain myself again,” she ended her post.
Last week, Chie made headlines once again when she posted screenshots of proof on Instagram Stories amid controversy with Sofia Andres, showing that the actress had allegedly been paying influencers to bash Chie.
Chie's controversy with Sofia began when they unfollowed each other on Instagram, followed by Sofia's cryptic posts online.
