Cristine Reyes, Isabelle Daza open up about past feud

Isabelle Daza and Cristine Reyes looked back on their long-rumored feud during their time working on the TV drama Tubig at Langis, as they reunited on The Sexytime Podcast alongside host Ava Daza.
During the candid conversation, Isabelle and Cristine opened up about the tension that brewed between them on set, which they both attributed to demanding schedules, personal struggles, and miscommunication.
Cristine admitted she was not in the best headspace at the time, saying, “Parang feeling ko that time hindi pa ako ready mag-work pero I can't say no.”
Isabelle, on the other hand, recalled how physically intense their scenes would get, especially with their frequent filming in Bulacan.
“Ang mga scenes na she had to slap me, and I had to slap her. And it's getting quite heated because we were filming in Bulacan, three times a week,” she shared.
As the conversation progressed, Cristine revealed that their differences and expectations contributed to the misunderstanding.
“Ako, galing sa simpleng buhay and all, so kapag darating ako sa set, I have to greet everybody. Si Isabelle, iba siya sa akin eh, sosyal. 'Yung time na 'yun 'It Girl' siya, so parang nag-e-expect ako na magiging friendly siya pero meron siyang dating na... hindi man lang nag-hi.”
In response, Isabelle explained she was unaware of how her behavior was being perceived.
“I wasn't aware of that, kasi si Mama Jun, 'yung assistant ko, she would always tell me, 'Belle, greet ka diyan sa director. Belle, punta ka sa producer.' Hindi ako sanay to come on the set and greet everyone, I don't know why,” she said.
The tension became more apparent during a confrontation scene they filmed together.
Cristine recalled taking the moment further than expected. “Nagkaroon ako ng chance sa beach, sorry talaga, Belle. Hindi niya siguro in-expect na talagang tototohanin ko."
"Hahablutin ko 'yung buhok niya pababa. It's my chance, bro,” she joked. “Ten years akong nagma-martial arts. Talagang slam sa baba. 'Tapos, sinipa niya ako, gumanti siya sa'kin.”
Isabelle shared her side of the moment, “Kinuha niya 'yung buhok ko and then, she dragged me. Sobrang lakas niya. I didn't want to break character. This is a big scene, especially with how the director hypes you.”
Cristine later admitted that her emotions had been building up at the time.
“Naipon na 'yun, Belle, ang dami mong ginawa sa akin na hindi mo alam.”
Looking back, Isabelle said she also kept her distance, partly out of fear and focus on work. “It was more like, I knew she wasn't going to be close to me, I also didn't realize I wasn't greeting her. I'm not the type to try to get close to someone. We also had our own separate tents, and also the truth is I was really scared of our director, I just really wanted to focus on doing well on my part.”
Cristine added that there were attempts to talk things out, but timing was not on their side. “Nakipagusap siya, pero hindi pa ako ready.”
Still, Isabelle emphasized her intention to clear the tension even back then. “I opened up to her. I don't want that tension, ang hirap na nga ng trabaho, 'tapos enemies pa kami in real life,” she said.
Cristine also revealed she was dealing with personal issues at the time, which affected her behavior.
“That time na pinagtatakpan ko pa, na hindi kami okay. Nagpo-post ako na parang happy family, pero 'yung totoo, hindi siya talaga umuuwi sa bahay. Pumupunta siya sa mga casino 'tapos meron silang mga girls na kasama, parang tini-table. Kasi meron daw mga clients daw, mga Koreans. Nilabas ko talaga sa kanya, sorry.”
Isabelle responded with understanding, “You were going through something personally.”
Years later, the two were finally able to reconcile and move forward. “We really reconciled years later, she apologized for that and said that ang dami kong pinagdadaanan ko sa bahay. You sent me flowers when I gave birth, I was so touched,” Isabelle shared, describing their eventual conversation as a healing experience.
