David Licauco is mourning the passing of his grandfather, Jaime T. Licauco, a renowned Filipino parapsychologist, newspaper columnist, author, lecturer, hypnotherapist, and consultant.

The statement on the elder Licauco's passing was sent to GMA Sparkle, and reads:

"In Loving Memory of Jaime T. Licauco

July 25, 1940, Professor, Author, Newspaper Columnist, TV Host

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jaime T. Licauco, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who peacefully joined our Creator on May 15 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on July 25, 1940, Jaime lived a long and meaningful life guided by wisdom, humility, and a deep love for research and explaining the unknown. He will be remembered for his strength of character, gentle spirit, and the quiet legacy he built through the generations he nurtured and inspired.

He is lovingly survived by his four children:

Sophia L. Eggleston and husband Steve,

Jolan Alexander C. Licauco and wife Eden,

Jaime Raphael Licauco and wife Timmy, and Jason

Also mourning his passing are his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild, who brought immense joy and pride to his later years, Elan, grandson-in-law Kay Kim, David, Jean, James, Thomas, Francesca and great-granddaughter Jimin."

Memorial service will be held from May 17 to 19 at Loyola Chapels, Loyola Memorial Park, Sucat, Paranaque, with nightly prayers around 6 to 8 p.m..

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on May 20 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at the same Park.

On Facebook, David dedicated a post to his late grandfather.

He shared a set of photos with him and he wrote, “The wisest man I knew -- always chasing greatness, always sharing his wisdom. Thank you for the life talks, the lessons, the power of your mind. I'll hold them close, always. Rest easy, Lolo.”
