'Dawson's Creek' actor James Van Der Beek passes away

Hollywood mourns another loss as James Van Der Beek passes away at 48.
In a joint Instagram post shared with his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, fans learned the sad news through a heartfelt message.
"Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning," the statement read.
"He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity, and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now, we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend."
Followers quickly took to the comment section to share their condolences and support for the family. Celebrities such as Daphne Zuniga, Federico Russo, Nicole Burch, Kate Lawler, among many others, also expressed their love and sympathy.
In 2024, James Van Der Beek announced that he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
The actor was best known for playing the lead role in Dawson's Creek, the 1998-2003 teen drama that followed a group of friends living in a small Massachusetts town.
The series' team also honored the late actor in a recent post.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of James Van Der Beek. His iconic portrayal of Dawson Leery helped define a generation of television for fans and continues to resonate with audiences today. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones," they wrote.
James Van Der Beek also starred in other films and television shows, including Varsity Blues (1999), The Rules of Attraction (2002), What Would Diplo Do? (2017), and many more.
