Ethan David releases new statement on viral video with BINI

Ethan David of rookie P-pop group GAT has released another statement about the controversial video that took over the internet on May 7 with fellow P-pop artists BINI Jhoanna, Stacey, and Colet, and online personality Shawn Castro.
In the said video, Ethan and Shawn were seen joking about sexual activities involving a minor in a private bonding moment with the BINI members, sparking allegations that one of them engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
The P-pop idol released a statement the following day, May 8, taking responsibility for his actions in the video.
Then, on Thursday evening, May 15, Ethan shared another statement where he clarified the allegations about him being involved with a minor.
“Let me be clear.. I have NEVER been involved in any inappropriate relationship with a minor, and I will never tolerate nor condone such behavior. I have always been firmly against it. The accusations being made are not only baseless but extremely damaging,” said Ethan.
According to him, the 13-year-old mentioned in the video was him with his “puppy love” when he was in Canada.
Ethan explained. “To clarify the confusion surrounding the video, the joking comments heard in the video led to a misunderstanding that I was grooming a [13-year-old]. In reality, I was the [13-year-old] being referred to. The situation being discussed dates back to a time when I was a young teenager experiencing innocent puppy love during my time in Canada.
“Out of respect for the privacy of the other individual involved, I will not name anyone. However, I want to emphasize that it was nothing more than a harmless, age-appropriate childhood experience,” he added.
At the end of his statement, Ethan apologized again to the people affected by the controversy and thanked everyone who showed support throughout the situation.
“Muli, humihingi po ako ng tawad sa lahat ng tao na naapektuhan sa sitwasyon. Lalo na po sa mga kaibigan at pamilya ko. Naiintindihan ko po nagkamali ako and I will carry this experience moving forward with greater awareness and respect,” he added. “Thank you to those who continue to support and understand me. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.”
