According to the statement, Ate Gay was rushed to the Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC) on October 17 after experiencing difficulty breathing.
The family explained that they brought Ate Gay to the hospital because it was where the comedian had previously received cancer treatment.
However, on October 29, the family learned Ate Gay suffered a stroke that damaged the right side of his brain.
The family also considered transferring the comedian to another hospital due to mounting medical expenses. However, his doctors advised them to keep him in the ICU, given his still-critical condition.
To help cover his medical expenses, the family has also reached out to government agencies, private individuals, charitable institutions, and other organizations.
Last October 27, the family also appealed for financial assistance on social media, revealing that Ate Gay had already been confined in the ICU for more than a week.
The post came after the comedian held a "living funeral" with close friends and loved ones, which he described as a "celebration of life."
Last June, Ate Gay shared positive results from his magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), revealing that the lump in his nose and neck were no longer present.
Did Ate Gay defeat cancer?
In July 2026, Ate Gay revealed continuing to receive CyberKnife treatment and immunotherapy.
Despite continuing treatment, Ate Gay said his condition has not affected his energy and that his doctors have allowed him to continue performing.
What cancer stage does Ate Gay have?
Back in 2025, Ate Gay publicly shared that he had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
In November, the comedian celebrated completing chemotherapy. During the first session of the therapy, Ate Gay received what he calls a miracle as his tumor shrank from 10 centimeters to 8.5 centimeters after just a few days.
But the following month, Ate Gay was rushed to the hospital due to side effects from chemotherapy and treatment.
