Filipino celebrities who had Bell's Palsy

Often, we associate celebrities with perfection, overlooking the challenges they face. One health issue that affects many, including stars--is Bell's Palsy. Several celebrities have openly shared their experiences with facial paralysis, particularly Bell's Palsy. Among those who have been open about their journeys are Justin Bieber, Angelina Jolie, Pierce Brosnan, George Clooney, Sylvester Stallone, Katie Holmes, and Anupam Kher.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, Bell's Palsy is a condition characterized by sudden onset of facial muscle weakness or paralysis, which may worsen within 48 hours. It occurs due to damage to the facial nerve (the 7th cranial nerve). Pain and discomfort are typically felt on one side of the face or head.

Symptoms typically begin to improve within a few weeks, with full recovery occurring in approximately six months. A small percentage of individuals may experience lingering Bell's Palsy symptoms for the rest of their lives. In rare cases, Bell's Palsy can recur.

The exact cause of Bell's Palsy is unclear, but it is commonly associated with having a viral infection.

In the Philippines, local celebrities have also revealed their Bell's Palsy diagnosis. Take a look at these showbiz personalities who have faced this condition.
