Former child actress Erika Alexis Mamites is paying tribute to the childhood that quietly shaped her path—not toward the spotlight, but toward the courtroom. Once a budding actress, Erika made the deliberate choice to step away from show business to focus on her education, a decision that has now brought her closer to her long-held dream of becoming a lawyer.
In a reflective TikTok post, Erika revisited her early years, candidly explaining why she walked away from acting at a young age. “I was a child actress and I walked away. Not because I failed nor because of a lack of opportunity, but because I was tired and still a kid,” she wrote.
Erika also shared where her story began, far from the glitz of the entertainment industry. “I was born in Maasin City. You've probably never heard of it. There were no stage lights nor any applause. Just parents who believed education was a non-negotiable,” she said.
Her introduction to acting came early, but her parents ensured that school always came first. “At the tender age of three, an agent told my mom she should bring me to VTRs (auditions). My mom was hesitant. My dad said maybe. So we stayed but school first. Always,” Erika recalled.
Even as she took on projects, structure and discipline remained central to her upbringing. “Auditions only after class. Commercials on weekends (as much as possible). Homework before the script and cameras,” she added.
True to those values, Erika eventually left acting behind to pursue higher education. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from De La Salle University with a degree in Political Science, and in 2026, she passed the Bar examinations, officially placing her on the path to becoming a lawyer.
Today, Erika's story resonates as proof that stepping away from the spotlight can sometimes be the bravest move of all, especially when it leads back to a dream patiently nurtured since childhood.
