Gary Valenciano

Amid the rise of fake news and AI-generated scams, Gary Valenciano is taking a stand after becoming the subject of a misleading advertisement for a cancer cure.

On Instagram, Mr. Pure Energy shared a screenshot of the ad, which reads, "How to be cancer free?" and "Lunas na mabisa at mabilis umepekto," warning the public about the misleading cancer cure promotion.

"It's as fake as fake can be. Be careful, friends!!!!" he clarified in his post.

He also expressed his gratitude to those who alerted him about the fake cancer ad involving his name.

In 2018, the OPM icon was falsely reported to have passed away. One fake report had the headline: “Just in: Gary Valenciano died due to heart failure after having a heart operation. 1964-2018.”

His wife and manager, Angeli Pangilinan Valenciano, immediately shut down the death rumors, assuring the public that Gary was alive and well and even scheduled to perform in an upcoming show.

Meanwhile, here are other celebrities and showbiz personalities whose names were used to extort money from the public.
