Gil Cuerva, nagsalita tungkol sa victim-blaming matapos ang video controversy

Muling binasag ng Kapuso actor na si Gil Cuerva ang kanyang katahimikan tungkol sa kumalat na video online na nauugnay sa kanya.
Sa bagong episode ng TRGGRD! podcast, ibinahagi ng Fil-Spanish actor na siya at ibang kapwa aktor na naugnay sa viral video ay mga biktima ng isang seryosong sitwasyon.
“If you read the comments, people are kinda, they're not treating it like a serious thing. In fact, may mga fellow victims na they had the courage and bravery to talk about 'yung experience nila. That's something I won't do. I just posted once and 'yun na 'yon,” pagbabahagi niya.
Inamin din ng aktor na nababahala siya sa mga nakikitang niyang pagbi-victim-blaming.
Aniya, “But if you look at 'yung mga reaction ng mga tao, parang may victim-blaming pa rin because we're guys. Parang, 'Ginusto mo naman 'yan,' or 'Hindi ka kasi nag-ingat.'
"I guess, for me, doon lang ako naba-bother because I don't want to explain how traumatic the whole thing was for me, and I had to deal with it.
"And siyempre, for people to just treat it like it was nothing 'di ba and make light of it, you guys don't know what I had to go through. But I just try to handle it with grace and dignity and just move on with my life.”
Dagdag pa niya, “I've kinda made peace with the whole thing already, but if there's anything that kinda bothers me a little pa rin, it's the whole victim-blaming.”
Ayon pa kay Gil, ang silver lining na naidulot ng sitwasyong ito ay maaaring magsilbing “cautionary tale” ang nangyari sa kanya para maiwasan ng iba ang similar na karanasan.
“Siguro by this time, mga managers, parents, or teachers have probably warned their kids or whatever na parang, 'Hey, this can happen to you if you're not careful.' Parang use this whole negative experience as a way to be positive to other people,” pagbabahagi niya.
Bukod kay Gil, kabilang sa celebrities na nagsalita tungkol sa video controversy ay sina Ron Angeles, Andre Cue, at Nikko Natividad.
Noong Marso, naglabas ng pahayag si Gil sa kanyang Instagram account dahil sa viral video na kumalat online.
“The video being shared online was recorded without my knowledge or consent during a private moment. The use of a hidden camera and the distribution of that recording are serious violations of my privacy and constitute a crime.
“Thank you to my friends and family who reached out with support during this time, and thank you to those who spoke up to defend my name. That's all that really needs to be said. I'm okay, I'm fine, and life goes on,” sulat niya sa kanyang statement.
