Gymnast Levi Jung Ruivivar hopes to establish a career in PH

From Olympics to showbiz? Gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar hopes to build a career in the Philippines, too.

The Filipino-American athlete was introduced as the newest talent of Viva Artists Agency on Thursday, August 29.

Levi was among the four Filipino gymnasts who represented the country in the recently concluded Paris 2024 Olympics.

“We discussed doing brand deals and modeling. In the future, we can do acting and modeling. That would be my primary goal. Right now, probably more centered about modeling and brand deals. But I am pretty enthusiastic about doing work in social media as much as I can right now. I want to build my platform and build my brand, that would be the next step,” she told the media, including GMANetwork.com, at a press conference prepared for her by Viva Entertainment.

As of now, Levi said she's not yet committed to working full-time in the Philippines because she's about to start college at Stanford University.

“My training comes first,” she also stressed.

With regard to acting projects, she said “If there's something, I would discuss it with Viva and figure out that would be possible. But bigger projects would have to be after LA because I train almost 34 hours a week. But now that I'm going to college, I would have more time because my training hours are a little bit less.”

Although she pursued a career in sports, Levi said entertainment is also something close to her heart.

“I've always had a passion for the entertainment industry if it's just the way I was born or if it has to do with my parents both being actors,” she smiled.

Levi is the daughter of Holywood actors Anthony Ruivivar and Yvonne Jung-Ruivivar, who were part of the crime drama series titled Third Watch.

Levi added, I actually was pushing and pushing both my parents to be able to get more involved in the entertainment industry. Like I said, acting, modeling, and brand deals as well as social media. Since I was a younger gymnast, I really made it a point to myself to post more consistently and kind of put myself out there.

Since her parents were in show business for a long time, Levi believes she will be well-guided when she decides to push through with her career.

She said, “Obviously, my parents can give me a lot of helpful tips because they're very experienced in the industry. You know, because of gym, I don't really have as much time to train in acting. But I'm really hopeful that I could pick it up very quickly. I feel pretty comfortable in front of the camera, at least.”

Levi already has experience in show business when she became part of the animated children's TV series Doc McStuffins as a voice actor.

Right now, the 18-year-old gymnast admitted she enjoys the popularity she gained during the Olympics through her social media.

She old GMANetwork.com, “It's truly incredible. I have to say it's pretty much satisfying to be able to have a larger following on social media.

“I do actually like making content. I actually find it very fun. I shoot them on my own, I edit them on my own and then, I put it out there as well. So, it's a decent amount of work to do that all on my own. So, the fact that it's getting views and people enjoy watching my content is really exciting.”

As she enters college, Levi promises to continue creating content for her followers.

She said, “I'm really hopeful that I can continue to build my platform and that people will continue watching my videos, and that I can come up with some exciting new ideas. Like, moving into college, training with my new teammates there, and always coming back to the Philippines and be able to train with my fellow teammates here and continue to go to SEA Games and all those international competitions.”
