Fans and social media followers of global fashion and style icon Heart Evangelista definitely had a busy day today as the Kapuso star renewed her contract with the Kapuso Network.
Dubbed the Heart Kapuso Day, the event was livestreamed on GMA's social media accounts and was an opportunity for Heart Evangelista to thank all of her fans who have stayed loyal to her throughout her 16 years as a Kapuso star.
Present at her contract signing were GMA Network's President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr.; Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Mr. Felipe S. Yalong; Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Ms. Lilybeth G. Rasonable; Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group, and President of GMA Films, Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes; and Vice President for Entertainment Group's Musical Variety Formats, Specials and Alternative Productions, and Heart Evangelista's Manager, Ms. Gigi S. Lara.
Also part of Heart Evangelista's contract renewal with GMA Network were Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategic Planning and Business Development and Concurrent Chief Risk Officer, and Head of Program Support, Ms. Regie C. Bautista; Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Sales and Marketing Group, Ms. Lizelle G. Maralag; Senior Vice President for Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy Mr. Oliver B. Amoroso; and the Senior Vice President for GMA Pictures Ms. Nessa Valdellon.
Heart Kapuso Day was topped off with an appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda where she talked about her experience at different Fashion Weeks, taking on the role of president of the Senate Spouses Foundation, and her relationship with Senate President Chiz Escudero.

After giving a rundown of her clothing and accessories, Heart Evangelista and the King of Talk Boy Abunda talked about her new contract with the Kapuso Network. “GMA really gave me an opportunity. That was one of the biggest contracts that I signed in my life and I'm just so, so grateful,” she said.
Heart even joked about how this new contract would be something her husband, Chiz Escudero, would appreciate.
“I've been doing what I'm doing for almost 30 years, and yet to be given an opportunity? Thank you so much, hindi ako pro-problemahin ng asawa ko. Kaya ko ulit bayaran 'yung mga credit card,” she said.
Heart Evangelista was also asked about her time in different Fashion Weeks and she was quick to credit the photographers for any positive coverage she gets during these events. In fact, Heart has also sent these same photographers coffee and snacks during last year's Paris Fashion Week.
“The honest truth, without the photographers, all of them, I really wouldn't be anything. Compared to everybody there who are all beautiful and tall, I'm just a small girl from the Philippines. Yet they really take care of me, they take my photos. It's because of them. It really pays to be kind,” she shared.
Boy Abunda also touched on Heart Evangelista's new role as president of the Senate Spouses Foundation, a role that Heart admits was initially upsetting to her as she has worked to not be part of the world of politics.
“Nung una kong nalaman, kasi wala naman akong kamalay-malay sa mga ganyan kasi I try to separate myself from politics. I was happy for him, I was proud of him, but I didn't know that I had a role. All of a sudden, I had to head this and that. Umiyak ako, naupset ako nang konti. Nag-panic talaga ako kasi when you associate yourself with something like that you get bashed,” she shared.
Despite her initial misgivings about the role, Heart Evangelista says she really loves the platform that the Senate Spouses Foundation has given her, allowing her to “do so much”.
“There are the past projects that we revisit and make sure that the structures and the homes are still good. I've been working endlessly meeting people so we can renovate, we can fix, we can polish everything they've done, Home for the Aged, adoption centers,” she shared.
“But aside from that, I want to introduce new things. I don't wanna talk about it because I want them to see. At the end of the day, it's not about me. It's the whole Senate spouses,” she added.
When it came to her relationship with her husband Chiz Escudero, Heart Evangelista was very adamant about how important he is to her.
“He goes, I go. He jumps, I jump. Ako na lang mauna, hindi ko talaga kaya. It's a new world and without Chiz I don't know how I will survive. Mauna na lang talaga ako,” she shared.
Heart Evangelista also briefly addressed the health scare involving her husband, Chiz Escudero. Different publications had reported that the Senate President had been rushed to a hospital.
“Chiz is very good, he's super good now. He had an episode. It was an episode and it was a scary episode. It was a wake-up call for all of us to make sure that health is wealth. Now he's doing very good and everything is perfect and I make sure everything is perfect,” she said.
