Hollywood star Robert Redford passes away at 89

Hollywood mourns the loss of legendary actor and director Robert Redford, who passed away at the age of 89.
According to The New York Times, Cindi Berger, chief executive of Rogers & Cowan PMK, confirmed the heartbreaking news. Robert passed away in his sleep at his home in Sundance, Utah.
Cindi also shared the news with CNN, "Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah-the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be missed greatly.”
The family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
For decades, Robert Redford was one of Hollywood's most celebrated leading men. He's known for versatile iconic roles in series and films such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Great Gatsby (1974), All the President's Men (1976), Indecent Proposal (1993), A Walk in the Woods (2015), and many others.
As a director, he won the Academy Award for his debut feature Ordinary People (1980) and produced other applauded films like A River Runs Through It (1992) and Quiz Show (1994).
Beyond the screen, Robert left a lasting legacy by blending his passion for the environment with independent cinema. In 1981, he founded the Sundance Institute, which nurtured new voices in filmmaking. He later revitalized a struggling Utah film festival, renaming it the Sundance Film Festival.
