The wrestling world is mourning the loss of one of its most iconic figures. Hulk Hogan, born Terry Gene Bollea, passed away on July 24 at the age of 71. Known for his electrifying charisma, unmatched star power, and legendary status in professional wrestling, Hogan leaves behind a legacy that transcended the wrestling world.

Hogan's manager, Chris Volo, stated that the wrestling icon suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida, and passed away while surrounded by his family.

BBC also reported the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) icon underwent neck surgery in May, followed by heart surgery in June.

In an Instagram post, Hogan's family announced the heartbreaking news of his passing, calling him a legend the world has lost.

"It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend. Our beloved Terry Bollea, known worldwide as Hulk Hogan, passed away today surrounded by his loved ones."

They continued, "At this time of grief, we ask that everyone please respect the privacy of his family and friends. May we all take solace in the wonderful memories he left behind for the millions of fans worldwide whose lives he touched for more than four decades. He will be missed, but never forgotten."

In a statement, WWE paid tribute to Hulk Hogan as "One of pop culture's most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s."

Fellow wrestling star Ric Flair expressed his shock at his close friend Hulk Hogan's passing. "He was one of the first to visit me when I was in the hospital with a 2% chance of living, and he prayed by my bedside."

Wrestling icon the Undertaker also commemorated Hulk Hogan's memory, "The wrestling world has lost a true legend. His contributions to our business are immeasurable, and for that,t I am appreciative."

Widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestling superstars of all time, Hulk Hogan played a pivotal role in transforming WWE into the global powerhouse it is today. During the 1980s and 1990s, his larger-than-life persona--both inside and outside the ring--catapulted him to household-name status, turning him into a mainstream icon with movie roles and worldwide recognition.

Hulk Hogan rose to fame through his iconic runs in WWE and World Championship Wrestling (WCW), becoming a global symbol of professional wrestling. Renowned for his flamboyant style, massive physique, signature blond horseshoe mustache, and trademark bandanas, Hogan was widely considered the most recognizable wrestling star in the world, the most popular wrestler of the 1980s, and one of the greatest in the sport's history.

He began his professional wrestling career in 1977, but it wasn't until he signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in December 1983 that he achieved worldwide fame. His heroic, all-American persona played a central role in sparking the wrestling boom of the 1980s, as he headlined eight of the first nine WrestleMania events.
