Veteran showbiz columnist and host Ricky Lo has passed away on May 4, 2021, at the age of 75.
Ricky was born on April 21, 1946 in Las Navas, Northern Samar.
He earned a degree in English from the University of the East before beginning his career as an editorial assistant for Variety magazine, the weekend supplement of The Manila Times in 1969.
Ricky worked as an entertainment editor for The Manila Times and then at The Manila Chronicle and finally at The Philippine Star.
Ricky was also a longtime host of the showbiz talk show 'Startalk' along with Lolit Solis, Butch Francisco, and later Joey de Leon and Heart Evangelista.
He also hosted other showbiz-oriented programs such as The Ricky Lo Exclusives in defunct Kapuso channel QTV 11 and Showbiz Stripped.
He also wrote an entertainment column called FunFare which he started while he was working for the Manila Times and continued on The Philippine Star until the time of his death.
Upon catching wind of his passing, many celebrities flocked to his last Instagram post and left their last messages for him.
