Mclaude Guadaña

"Baka ma-discover sa showbiz kasi kaagad, e. Basketball ka muna,” coach Jeff Perlas of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Pirates jokingly told rookie Mclaude “Mc” Guadaña during a virtual meet-and-greet with some GMA representatives early this year.

Coach Jeff's worries, while said in jest, are not far-off.

After all, Mclaude is touted as the "Heartthrob Pirate" and is one of the reasons why female fans are keeping an eye on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Simply put, Mclaude has what it takes to crossover from sports to showbiz if he wants to.

The young hooper is, however, more than just a pretty face.

Many see Mclaude as part of that group of budding young players expected to make an impact both at home and internationally.

He played extremely well for the Philippine Youth Team - popularly referred to as Batang Gilas - as was part of that squad that went to China for the FIBA U16 Asian Championship in 2018.

Mclaude also played for Batang Gilas at the 2017 SEABA Under-16 Championship.

The media dubbed him as the team's breakout star for his impressive performance, posting triple-double numbers and taking charge for the team when it matters.

Mclaude will certainly bring those experiences to LPU should he suit up for the squad for the upcoming Season 97 next year.

But before all that, here are a few things you should know about the talented shooting guard from Tagaytay.
