The much-awaited return of the live audience at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) has finally happened on September 12, Sunday (US time) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City.
The 40th anniversary of the iconic awards night was graced by both the hottest artists and legendary figures in the music industry.
Queen of Pop Madonna opened the awards night, while fellow music icons such as Jennifer Lopez and Cyndi Lauper.
The three-hour event was hosted by “Say So” singer Doja Cat and packed with performances from Justin Bieber, Olivia Rodrigo, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Camilla Cabello, Alicia Keys, Lil Nas X, Twenty One Pilots, and many others.
Among the big winners of the 2021 MTV VMAs are Justin Bieber, who won Artist of the Year and led the nominations this year; Foo Fighters, who received the Global icon Award; and Fil-Am singer Olivia Rodrigo, who aside from winning her first-ever moonman, also won three awards out of her five nominations.
