K-pop idols square off with Filipino stars in basketball game

Basketball and entertainment came together in an exciting event last Sunday, October 26, 2025, as South Korea's Rising Eagles went head-to-head with Kuys Showtime at the Bench: Shoot of Asia exhibition game held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Organized by Bench, the special match brought together sports, celebrity culture, and international fandom in one unforgettable crossover. The game featured The Rising Eagles, a Korean team formed for a sports reality show that aired on SBS. It competed against Kuys Showtime, a group of popular Filipino personalities.
Representing the home team, Kuys Showtime brought together an exciting mix of Filipino celebrities led by team captain Vhong Navarro. The all-star lineup included fellow It's Showtime hosts Jhong Hilario and Billy Crawford, along with fan favorites David Licauco, Wendell Ramos, River Joseph, Arthur Nery, and Adie Garcia. Completing the roster were JC De Vera, Ryan Bang, Ion Perez, Dustin Yu, Ronnie Alonte, EA Guzman, Baileys Acot, and Johannes Rissler, a powerhouse team that showcased both the charisma and athletic spirit of the Filipino entertainment industry.
Leading the Korean squad was K-pop superstar Minho of SHINee, who served as team captain under the guidance of Korean basketball legend Seo Jang-hoon. With their star power and teamwork, the Rising Eagles delivered an exciting performance that kept fans cheering from start to finish.
The event became more than just a friendly game, it was a celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and the growing cultural connection between South Korea and the Philippines.
