Kate Valdez has finally broken her silence about the speculations surrounding her breakup with Fumiya Sankai.
On Sunday night, February 8, the Sparkle artist took to Instagram Stories to confirm their split through an emotional joint statement, addressing the “confusion” and “speculation” circulating online.
“We understand that this has led to various conclusions. This was never our intention,” they began.
Kate and Fumiya expressed their gratitude for the “love, support, and kindness” they received throughout their journey together.
They continued, “Your encouragement has meant so much to us, and we will always carry it with us.”
“Following considerable thought, we have mutually decided to go our separate ways,” they revealed.
The former couple shared that their decision was made with “respect, understanding, and care.”
In their statement, Kate and Fumiya said that this time apart will allow them to focus on their “personal growth,” healing, and self-development.
“There is no bitterness between us, only gratitude for what we shared and hope for what lies ahead. We kindly ask for your understanding and respect as we move forward separately,” they explained.
“As we share this, we also hope for kindness and understanding from everyone. We respectfully ask that there be no hate or hurtful words. Let us choose empathy, respect, and compassion for all involved,” they added.
“We truly appreciate your love and continued support, not as a couple, but as individuals walking our own paths. May we continue to share love. With gratitude and respect, Kate & Fumiya,” they concluded.
Last month, Kate's cryptic Instagram Stories sparked breakup speculations after she shared lyrics from Olivia Rodrigo's "Favorite Crime" and Billie Eilish's "Happier Than Ever", which touch on themes of betrayal, toxic relationships, and heartbreak.
Many also noticed that Kate had unfollowed Fumiya on Instagram.
Kate and Fumiya publicly confirmed their relationship on June 18, 2024.
