OPM diva Katrina Velarde has broken her silence after backing out of performing in the two-day concert of 98 Degrees in May at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
In a two-minute video she uploaded on Facebook last June 6, Katrina told her fans and online followers that she needed an immediate medical procedure to remove her silicone implant from her nose.
Katrina explained, “So after ko mag-post sa hindi ako makaka-attend sa 98 degrees and I had to cancel some commitments na dapat kakantahan ko. It's because I need my nose implant removed as soon as possible, and it takes a while para mag-recover.”
She continued, “So nagkaroon ako ng complications, for years after malagay 'yung silicone implant sa ilong ko. Alam n'yo din na I'm very open sa mga ginagawa ko. Sa pagiging robot ko or pagiging android ko, 'di ba? At first I had Gore-Tex ni-reject din siya ng katawan ko right ahead and then I had it removed also.
“Tapos itong pangalawa, ito na 'yung ngayon at nagkaroon na naman ako ng complications. So, it does really look like very rare na hindi tinatanggap ng katawan ko ang mga implants or foreign objects.”
According to the talented performer, she removed her implants with the help of Dr. Eric C. Yapjuangco, more popularly known as Doc Yappy.
“I did a very good recovery naman, pero nung nakaraan sobrang maga ako, hindi talaga kakayanin sa 98 degrees, kasi talagang puffy talaga,” said Katrina.
In the comment section of her Facebook video, she addressed the concerns of others about her health. Katrina said that she is looking forward to singing again in a few days.
“Kalma lang kayo d'yan, mga mami, okay naman na ako… Ilang days na lang mag-sing na ako ulit… And the vamfyr will feyt to all of us… Salamat sa inyo. Have a good night,” Katrina concluded.
