Television host and actress Kris Aquino has shared a heartfelt update about her ongoing health journey, revealing that she is finally settling into a new home after weeks of hospitalization while expressing gratitude to those who have supported her along the way.
In a candid social media post, Kris Aquino reflected on the challenges she recently faced, writing, “We are finally settling into our new home straight from the hospital after 6 rollercoaster weeks. I am so very grateful to all of you for your continued prayers and well wishes.”
Kris also extended her appreciation to the medical professionals who cared for her during her stay, saying, “I am thankful that I was well taken care of by the nurses, radiology technicians, the pain management team, the cardiology team, the anesthesia team, the very dedicated members of the Rheumatology department, and 'the sharp shooters' from the pathology department.”
Alongside her health update, Kris shared a personal reflection about her late brother, former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, noting that she chose not to elaborate on certain matters out of respect for his memory.
“The actions of two men shall remain unwritten because yesterday would have been the 66th birthday of my brother, my only Kuya, Benigno S. Aquino III,” she wrote.
She then recalled a meaningful exchange with him during a difficult period, recounting her concern at the time: “You're being beaten up so badly. Defend yourself—it's so unfair. This mess is not your fault. You don't have to be the silent leader all the time because you have a legacy of many achievements to protect.”
According to Kris, her brother responded with advice that continues to guide her today: “Kristina, please learn to relax and leave everything up to the One above. My conscience is clear, and I can still sleep peacefully. Matulog ka na, and please, 'wag kang pumatol.' Less talk, the sooner this will die down. If you talk, you will just fan the flames, and who will be the happiest? Our enemies. Our birthdays are coming—let's have peaceful ones.”
Kris Aquino also addressed how she balances openness about her condition with maintaining optimism for her followers.
“When I discuss my current health issues, my Ate sometimes reminds me not to scare my followers because they want to see a happy and hopeful Kris,” she shared.
She added that she plans to discuss her medical challenges more deeply once her podcast launches, saying, “I'll discuss my health challenges when the #KrisPodcast is ready for your viewing and listening, and experts can explain to you why every day God gives is simply 'borrowed time.' I am praying hard my 'RETURN TO OWNER' date is still a decade away.”
Kris went on to acknowledge several doctors who have played crucial roles in her treatment, including rheumatology department head Dr. Jomby Lichauco, whom she described as “my Dr. Buttercup, sometimes my Dr. Frenemy, BUT most often my Dr. Bestie,” as well as Dr. Geraldine Zamora, whom she considers part of her “circle of adopted beloved younger sisters.”
She also thanked Dr. Nic Cruz for his expertise in interventional cardiology and Dr. Henry Lu for helping manage severe migraines that once caused her blood pressure to spike dangerously.
“The doctor who has helped alleviate my migraines—which made my BP rise to 220/110 on December 25 and 26, and, to be brutally frank, could have been the end of me — Dr. Henry Lu, the best in pain management, and his entire 'girl-powered' team,” she wrote.
Kris likewise expressed deep gratitude to her former boyfriend, Dr. Mike Padlan, who helped facilitate her confinement during a medical emergency.
“My former boyfriend, who was literally one call away on Dec. 25 and 26 and facilitated my confinement, Dr. Mike Padlan—I AM FOREVER INDEBTED BECAUSE WITHOUT HIM, I WOULD NO LONGER BE HERE,” she said, adding that although they did not work out romantically, they maintain a strong physician-patient relationship.
She also credited cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Jeff Chua for carefully studying her physical limitations and tailoring treatment to her needs, along with Dr. Jonnel Lim, who closely monitored her during her PortaCath surgery.
“I stayed awake the entire time my PortaCath surgery was ongoing, and I felt the first slice. BUT feeling pain is better than having no oxygen flowing—agree?” Aquino shared candidly.
Additionally, she acknowledged Dr. Katcee Canlas Estrella for managing her extensive list of allergies, which she revealed has grown to six pages long.
Looking ahead, Kris Aquino said she is preparing to begin physical medical rehabilitation soon.
“I start my physical medical rehabilitation next week after the stitches in my PortaCath are removed,” she wrote, before asking followers for recommendations: “Please help me find a patient and knowledgeable #TaiChi teacher willing to do one-on-one classes, who will be understanding that I have many physical limitations?”
Despite ongoing challenges, Kris Aquino's update reflected both vulnerability and gratitude, as she continues to focus on recovery while remaining hopeful about the future.
