Her doctors revealed that Kris has been diagnosed with Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA), a disease caused by inflammation that occurs in certain types of cells in your blood or your tissues.

Despite the severeness of her health condition, Kris is hopeful to undergo a series of medical treatments in the U.S. and thanked everyone who prayed for her immediate healing and recovery.

"Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nagdasal for my recovery. Here's the truth as explained by my attending physician Dr. Niño Gavino, an exceptional Filipino American doctor based in Houston who successfully diagnosed what's really wrong with my health," she wrote on Instagram.

Due to her current state, Kris Aquino decided to undergo another six to eight hours of infusion sessions for six days, where she would have to stay in preventive isolation for six months. The former TV host shared, “It's one of the strongest autoimmune immunosuppressants, together with my [two] other, [one] taken daily, and [one] given via injection, will totally wipe out my immunity.” Her treatment will follow after her two-month stay at a private beach property lent by a “kind and generous family” who only wanted for her to regain her health.

A few days later, Kris Aquino returned to the hospital for her second dose of Rituximab, an antibody medication used to treat certain cancers and autoimmune diseases. During the procedure, her doctor noticed something unusual in her blood panel results and advised her to undergo an ultrasound.

Following a series of tests and prescriptions, Kris Aquino underwent surgical procedures. The former actress and TV host shared that her doctors began the surgery on August 20, after which she was transferred to another cardiac OR for her port-a-cath procedure.
