'Laughter in the Rain' singer Neil Sedaka dies at 86

American singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka, known for timeless hits like "Laughter in the Rain" and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do," has passed away at the age of 86.
His family confirmed the news on his Facebook page, describing Sedaka as a "true rock and roll legend."
"Our family is devastated by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Neil Sedaka. A true rock and roll legend, an inspiration to millions, but most importantly, at least to those of us who were lucky enough to know him, an incredible human being who will be deeply missed," Sedaka's family wrote, without details about the cause of his death.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Neil Sedaka began his music career in the late 1950s and quickly established himself as both a hitmaker and a sought-after songwriter.
Among his other well-known songs are "Bad Blood" and "Love Will Keep Us Together," the latter becoming a number one hit for Captain & Tennille. He also co-wrote hits for Connie Francis, including "Stupid Cupid" and "Where The Boys Are."
