Multi-awarded director and producer Bobby Garcia passed away recently. He was 55.
The news was confirmed by Bobby's family in a statement to the King of Talk Boy Abunda, who announced the news on Wednesday, December 18, during Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
“Ito'y isang malungkot na balita para sa mga kaibigan ng aming - one of my best friends, Bobby Garcia, the director. Pumanaw po ang multi-awarded theater director at producer na si Bobby Garcia sa edad na 55,” the renowned talk show host said.
He noted how Bobby was the founder of Atlantis Productions, and co-produced the Broadway production 'Here Lies Love,' which received four Tony nominations.
He has also directed and produced over 50 plays and musicals across Canada and Asia and shows that were nominated for the Tony, Drama League, and Outer Critic Circle awards. Bobby has also won three Aliw awards and has been inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame.
As of writing, no details of the cause of his passing were shared. Bobby's family, meanwhile, expressed their thanks for the understanding of the public for their desire for privacy in these trying times.
“Kami po ay nakikiramay sa pamilya at sa mga mahal sa buhay ni Bobby Garcia. Bobby was one of those beautiful person inside and out na nakilala ko po sa tanang buhay ko,” Boy said.
He added, “You will be missed and wherever you are, I know you're in heaven, Bobby, I want you to know that you are loved.”
