“Never nanloko si Neri, at never sya nanlamang sa kapwa.”
Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda took to social media yesterday (November 27) to defend his wife Neri Naig after several reports mentioned that Neri is facing syndicated estafa charges and violations of the Securities regulation code.
Chito who tied the knot with Neri in 2014 released a statement on Instagram stressing that his wife is innocent.
“Never siyang kumuha or nanghingi ng pera kahit kanino man. Alam ng lahat yan.
“Tulong lang sya ng tulong hangga't kaya nya. Minsan kahit di na nakakabuti sa kanya.
“Kadalasan nga, naaabuso na sya pero hinahayaan nya na lang, basta wala syang ginawang masama.
“Pinapa sa Diyos nya na lang. Tulad ngayon, endorser lang sya tapos ginamit yung face nya to get investors.”
He also questioned how Neri was arrested without giving her the opportunity to properly respond to the case.
“Tapos last week, bigla na lang syang inaresto for the same case kahit hindi pa sya binigyan ng notice na may bagong criminal complaint pala laban sa kanya, and di nya na-defend yung sarili nya.
“Wala syang nareceive na letter from the prosecutor, walang subpoena, walang kahit anong notice.
“Yung mga dati, nareceive namin nya, at nag comply sya, (alam naman ng lahat na madali kami mahanap sa Alfonso)
“Anyway, dinampot na lang sya bigla.”
In Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the King of Talk said that Neri was facing violations of Section 8 of Republic Act No. 8799 or the “Registration of Brokers, Dealers, Salesmen, and Associated Persons.”
Boy said, “Ayon sa Southern Police District, may warrant of arrest si Neri dahil sa kasong syndicated estafa at 14 counts of violation sa section 28 ng Securities Regulation Code. Nakasaad sa section 28 na ipinagbabawal ang pagbebenta at pamimili ng ng investments securities. Ito 'yung mga stocks, bonds, interests, ng walang kaukulang registration mula sa SEC, Securities and Exchange Commision.”
On his Fast Talk with Boy Abunda episode on November 28, Boy again discussed the alleged estafa case filed against Neri and shared his personal knowledge about her.
The seasoned host unequivocally said that he knows that the actress-entrepreneur is a “good person”.
“Ako ay naninindigan na mabuting tao si Neri, masipag na nanay, at mabuting kapitbahay, kapitbahay ko po 'yan sa Tagaytay, and ito, personal knowledge ko po ito, napakabuting bata, napakabuting babae, napakabuting asawa,”
Following his official statement to the public, several showbiz personalities responded to Chito's Instagram post, showing their support for his family during this difficult time.
Former Senator Kiko Pangilinan, husband of Megastar Sharon Cuneta commented on the post and pointed out that Neri was also a “victim.”
Senator Pangilinan explained, “Narito kami handang tumulong Chito. Ang product endorser ay isang talent at hindi dapat nananagot sa iligal na gawain ng may ari at management ng isang korporasyon.
Biktima rin si Neri tulad ng ibang nabiktima nung mga estafador sa likod ng kumpanya. Habulin dapat yung mga may ari. Nawa'y madismiss o maibalik ang kaso sa piskalya para sa preliminary investigation at ma lift o ma quash ang arrest warrant.”
Meanwhile, Joross Gamboa, Neri's batchmate in Star Circle Quest also said that he knows that the family of Chito will overcome this challenge.
