On November 20, friends and family gathered to mourn Liam's passing at a church in the English countryside, just outside London. The One Direction members were among the mourners, offering their condolences to his family. This marked the first time the group had been seen together, with Zayn even rearranging his concert tour schedule to attend.
Other celebrities in attendance included James Corden and co-creator of One Direction, Simon Cowell. Liam's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, and the mother of his son, Cheryl Cole, were also present at the emotional ceremony.
Fans, known as Directioners, showed their grief by placing flowers outside the church and leaving tributes in Liam's hometown of Wolverhampton. They honored the late star with heartfelt messages, flowers, and gifts.

Alberto Crescenti, head of the city's emergency medical services, stated that Liam suffered "very serious injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall." He added "there was no possibility of resuscitation."
Liam had been working on a solo album that same year, following the lead of his former bandmates. He had attended a concert by Niall in Buenos Aires on October 2, according to Billboard magazine.
