Raymart Santiago and Estrella Inday Barretto

Actor Raymart Santiago has spoken up regarding the recent claims made by Estrella “Inday” Barretto, the mother of Claudine Barretto.

In a Facebook post, showbiz columnist Ogie Diaz shared a statement from Raymart's legal counsels after Inday's interview was posted on his YouTube channel.

"Dahil sa dulo ng aming one-on-one interview with Mommy Inday Barretto ay nakalagay na bukas ang aming Youtube channel sa panig ni Raymart Santiago, heto't mabilis namang sumagot ang kaniyang legal counsels, sina Atty. Howard Calleja at Atty. Katrin Jessica Distor-Guinigundo," Ogie wrote in the caption.

According to the statement, Raymart watched the interview and heard the allegations made by his former mother-in-law.

"It is very unfortunate that Mrs. Barretto opted to resort to publicity to spread this untruthful and slanderous narrative about our client and his marriage with Ms. Claudine Barretto who has likewise repeatedly exploited social media and sought recourse through trial by publicity to discredit our client's name and reputation,"the lawyers said.

They further clarified about one of the issues claimed by the mother.

“It appears that the root of Mrs. Barretto's outrage is the conjugal land sold by Ms. Claudine three years ago absent the knowledge and consent of our client. Our client refuses to partake in any dispute involving, or irregularity of Ms. Claudine and her cohorts may have committed."

Raymart's camp also reminded the Barrettos of a Gag Order previously issued by the Family Court, Branch 5 of Mandaluyong City, dated September 20, 2023.

"Our client has faithfully complied with, having kept his peace all these years. It is his hope that Ms. Claudine, her family, and agents would do the same, out of respect for the courts of justice and more importantly, for the sake of their children."

The statement concluded with a firm warning, “Finally, let this be a final warning that any utterances in contravention of the law shall be dealt with before the appropriate forum to protect our client's rights and to preserve his interests.”

Raymart's statement came shortly after Inday Barretto's interview with Ogie Diaz, where she alleged that Raymart had abused Claudine during their marriage and denied his previous claims of Claudine's supposed drug use.

It can be recalled that in 2013, Claudine filed a case accusing Raymart of physical, verbal, psychological, and economic abuse, to which the actor responded with a counter-affidavit. He also asserted that Claudine was indeed using illegal drugs at the time.

As they separated, Claudine gained custody of their children but allows Raymart to visit them from time to time.
