Sen. Migz Zubiri apologizes to Inday Badiday's family for his remark

After being called out by IC Mendoza, Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri takes to social media to apologize to the family of late showbiz icon Inday Badiday.
On Facebook, the lawmaker released an official statement regarding his remark to the late journalist during a heated Senate session.
"SINCERE APOLOGIES TO INDAY BADIDAY'S FAMILY," he wrote.
"Sa buong pamilya of the late Inday Badiday, I am sincerely sorry for mentioning her name during my manifestation sa Senado. Slip of the tongue po iyon in the middle of a heated debate, and I take full responsibility because I should have been more careful with my words."
The senator noted he respects the late icon, who became a part of the country's pop culture and was loved by many Filipinos.
"Lovable talaga siya, with her own charm, wit, and warmth, and I fully recognize her contribution to Philippine television, entertainment journalism, and media. My frustration was about the video shown on the Senate floor, and I never meant to disrespect her memory or reduce her legacy to politics," he added.
Sen. Migz then agreed with IC Mendoza's reaction to using his late grandmother's name.
"Tama si IC. Mendoza, dapat hindi na nadamay ang lola niya sa usaping pulitika. Kaya muli, I apologize deeply to the family and I will be more mindful moving forward."
Hours later, IC accepted the apology in a separate post.
"I also get where you're coming from and your frustration. And yes, I'm sure you meant no malice by it," he said.
"Kilala talaga siya for showbiz intrigues, but it just felt off seeing her memory associated with fake news peddlers. Kaya that's what caught us by surprise. But all good! Thank you for this Senator Migz. Appreciate it, Keep fighting the good fight. 🙂"
Sen. Migz Zubiri mentioned the late Inday Badiday during his reaction to a “propaganda video” presented by Senator Imee Marcos at the Senate plenary session.
“Inday Badiday na ba tayo rito sa Senado? Kaya nga sinasabi we're circus. I apologize to those watching, they think we're circus. We're circus because this type of language that we are pushing in this august chamber. It's unparliamentary,” he said.
IC later took to Facebook to defend his grandmother's legacy, noting it was disrespectful.
"Ang tagal nang patay ng lola ko. Please leave her out of your political commentaries and analogies,” IC wrote.
