Social media influencer and their cosmetic enhancement

Cosmetic enhancement, commonly known as a plastic surgery, was a taboo before, but now, the stigma of improving oneself by undergoing the knife is slowly being accepted, especially in a country like the Philippines, who is still conservative.

In fact, in a report by Manila Bulletin, the country is in a strong position to become one of the top destinations for a special kind of travelers who want to travel to get an aesthetic treatment.

Citing data from the Global Wellness Institute, it stated that the Philippines got a ranking of 8th regionally and 20th globally in the wellness economy.

Imagine the potential the nation could achieve if one day we could reach the level of South Korea.

Based on the information provided by The Korean Times, the country received 605,768 foreign patients, which is more than half of those received aesthetic treatments.

Crunching the numbers further, 35.2 percent seek help for dermatology concern, while 16.8 percent opted for plastic surgery.

Aside from celebrities, beauty clinics are also tapping social media influencers to promote their services. In fact, these social media personalities are further erasing the stigma of getting cosmetic procedures as they openly share their experience either in their accounts or by documenting it through vlogging.
