'The Glory' star Jung Sung-il announces divorce

South Korean actor Jung Sung-il has surprised the public with the announcement of his divorce.
According to Soompi, the K-drama star's agency XYZ Studio confirmed the news of the planned separation after nine years of marriage.
"After a long period of careful deliberation together, Jung Sung-il and his spouse have decided to bring their marriage to a close,” they stated in Korean.
“This decision was reached amicably by mutual agreement without assigning fault to either party. Although their legal relationship has been settled, they continue to support each other's paths, and they are jointly and diligently doing their utmost in raising their child.”
Jung Sung-il rose to international fame through his role as Ha Do-young in the hit 2023 Netflix series The Glory. He has also appeared in several other K-dramas, including Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy (2025), Begins Youth (2024), and When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon (2021).
In a past appearance on South Korean show You Quiz on the Block, Jung Sung-il shared the story of how he met his wife.
“I met her through a friend in my early twenties after completing my military service. She majored in pipe organ and later studied in the U.S. We kept in touch for three years through emails and phone calls between Seoul and the U.S.”
Their long-distance romance eventually blossomed into marriage, and the couple later welcomed a son.
