Tom Rodriguez reacts to ex-wife Carla Abellana's engagement

Tom Rodriguez could not avoid questions about his ex-wife, Carla Abellana, who was recently reported to be engaged to her non-showbiz fiancé.
Tom gave a brief and simple message when he spoke with the entertainment media after the media conference for the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Unmarry yesterday, December 5.
"I wish them well!” the actor said. "I'm glad that, you know, that everyone is moving on... I wish them well. Everyone deserves happiness, and we all deserve to be happy kaya I'm glad we've all finally moved on.”
For Tom, his past relationship with Carla is now a closed chapter.
"Ako, nakatutok ako sa sarili kong married life," he said. "For me, I like what I have now and I'd like to keep it that way."
Tom further stressed, "Gusto ko yung peace na meron ako ngayon, mas dun na lang ako magpo-focus. So yung past, I don't wanna open it anymore.”

After two years of reflection and self-healing abroad, Tom is embracing an energized comeback in Philippine showbiz.
In the same interview, he expressed his gratitude for all his experiences this year.
One of the key lessons he learned from everything that happened to him in the past years and in the current year is the importance of being grateful.
“Just being grateful is an antidote to so many things,” Tom said.
According to him, he learned to be grateful even during the most difficult parts of his life.
“Kahit sa mahihirap na seasons na pagdadaanan natin sa buhay natin, as long as we are grateful about something, malalampasan at malalampasan mo,” explained Tom.
“We can be thankful even if just we're breathing, we're alive, we can face another day; we can keep moving forward,” he added.
He is also thankful for all the blessings that have come, especially his return to showbiz. He considers himself fortunate because, aside from Unmarry, he is part of GMA Prime's hit telefantasya Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre.
He confessed that he came close to giving up many times during the hardest seasons of his life, but he kept going, believing that God would help him rise above them.
“'Yung akala mong 'di mo na malalampasan 'yung situation, 'yung katapusan mo na talaga. It's a literal death, hindi lang figurative death. Pero if you really hold on to Him, He'll really carry you through,” Tom said.
He also admitted that he is happily married but did not provide details about it because he wants to maintain a separation between his work and personal life.
Tom stated that he is happy with his private family life.
“We just live a normal, simple life,” ani ni Tom. He also insisted that he is not hiding his partner and son, Korben.
“Hindi ko naman sila tinatago. Sa akin lang, I just wanna live my life privately pero we go out, we have a community kung saan kami nakatira. Kung ano 'yung buhay namin noong nasa US kami, we try to do the same here,” Tom explained.
