TV reporter Ryan Chua is engaged to longtime partner Chowee Kailani

Journalist Ryan Chua is officially engaged to his longtime partner, Chowee Kailani (Joe-Marc Hsieh)!
On Facebook, the TV reporter shared a video of his romantic surprise proposal during a date in Hong Kong.
The reel opened with a plate of dessert bearing the words, "Will you marry me?"
As the waitstaff placed the dessert on their table, Ryan perfectly timed the moment, got down on one knee, and popped the question.
“Sorry to embarrass you, but we've been through a lot, so many changes, pero I want you to be the constant in my life. I told you we weren't going to do this, but here we are,” Ryan said as he presented the ring.
Following the heartfelt proposal, Joe-Marc happily said yes and accepted the ring. The couple then shared a warm embrace and a kiss as they celebrated the special moment.
"He said yes! 💍 After almost eight years of living like a married couple, we figured we should probably make it official at some point," Ryan wrote in the caption. "I'm not a romantic by nature, but Chowee Kailani is worth the occasional public display of cheesiness. 😆"
Fans quickly flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages and well-wishes for the newly engaged couple. Many also celebrated their engagement as another inspiring love story within the LGBTQ+ community.
Ryan and Joe-Marc have been together for several years and are based in Hong Kong.
Before his relationship with Joe-Marc, Ryan was in a relationship with model-actor Sebastian Castro. The two parted ways in 2017, announcing their breakup in an emotional post online.
