Why Michael Pacquiao missed brother Jimuel's wedding in the US

Joyce Tan Custodio took to Instagram to express her support and admiration for boyfriend Michael Pacquiao, after he missed the wedding of his brother, Jimuel Pacquiao, in California.
In her post, Joyce acknowledged the sacrifice Michael made in choosing to prioritize his responsibilities following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake rather than attending an important family occasion.
"Missing an important family moment was not easy, but your commitment to serving others speaks volumes about the kind of leader and person you are," she wrote.
According to Joyce, Michael's immediate concern after the earthquake was the welfare of the people who depended on him. She also defended him against criticism, saying that while not everyone may understand the challenges and sacrifices that come with public service, she has seen his dedication firsthand.
"When the 7.8 magnitude earthquake came, your thoughts immediately turned to the people who depended on you," she said. "Not everyone will understand the sacrifices you make or the challenges you face, but I see your dedication, your compassion, and your commitment to helping others."
Joyce went on to praise Michael's resilience and strong sense of duty, saying she remains proud of the way he continues to put others first despite the pressures that come with serving the public.
She ended her message by assuring him of her unwavering support, no matter what challenges may come their way.
"No matter what people say, where life takes us, no matter the sacrifices and challenges along the way, we stand strong together," she wrote, quoting a phrase Michael often tells her.
Michael and Jimuel are sons of renowned boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao.
