Number 3 world's pole vaulter EJ Obiena also captivated young athletes and netizens with his outstanding performances and dedication to improving the sports industry. Filipino kickboxers also made waves, earning an impressive 16-medal haul at the 2024 Asian Kickboxing Championships, where they showcased their skill and dedication on the continental stage.

Meanwhile, Tachiana Mangin brought pride to the country by clinching a gold medal at the World Taekwondo Junior Championships.

Another industry where the Philippines excelled this year was the dazzling world of beauty pageants. Leading the list of achievements was 2024 Miss Universe Philippines Chelsea Manalo, who proudly brought home the first-ever Miss Universe Asia title and the Best National Costume Award.

Alethea Ambrosio also shone on the global stage, earning the Miss Supranational Asia & Oceania title at the 2024 Miss Supranational pageant. Similarly, CJ Opiaza showcased exceptional poise and beauty, securing the 1st runner-up position at the Miss Grand International 2024.

Adding to the Philippines' success, Fil-Kiwi Victoria Velasquez Vincent made headlines by winning the Miss Universe New Zealand 2024 crown, further highlighting the global impact of Filipina beauty and talent.

Male pageant

Whether in the female or male category, the Philippines made a significant impact in the beauty pageant industry this year. Dom Corilla etched his name in Philippine male pageant history by becoming the first Filipino to win the Mister Global title.

Markki Stroem also made the nation proud, earning the fourth runner-up spot at the Mister Universe pageant. In addition, he was recognized with the Best in National Costume award and Best in Talent for his stunning performance of Frank Sinatra's “Come Fly With Me.”

Fashion

Filipinos also made waves in the global fashion industry this year. Well-known designer Francis Libiran kicked off 2024 with a significant triumph as the only Filipino designer to represent the country at the prestigious Harbin International Fashion Week. He also had the opportunity to create a custom Barong for American Broadway star Darren Criss. Another fashion powerhouse, Zaldy, garnered global attention for his incredible work behind BLACKPINK's Lisa's iconic Victoria's Secret costume.

Singing competition

Many Filipinos captivated netizens worldwide with their outstanding performances, particularly in singing. This year, 'The Voice USA' showcased two Pinoy singers who made headlines for their unforgettable auditions. Filipino-American Kay Sibal received massive attention during the Blind Auditions, with three out of four coaches turning their chairs for her. She impressed the coaches with her vocal control and delivered a beautiful rendition of Laufey's song "From The Start."

Meanwhile, Sofronio Vasquez made history as the first Filipino to win the grand finale of 'The Voice USA'. On December 10, he was crowned the grand winner after an incredible performance of "A Million Dreams" from 'The Greatest Showman.'

P-pop

Pinoy pop (P-pop) truly marked a new era this year, making waves not only locally but globally as well!

Kings of P-pop SB19 proudly took home prestigious awards, including Favorite Asian Act at the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards. Alongside them, Nation's Girl Group BINI also earned recognition. Both groups won the Voices of Asia Award at Billboard Korea's Billboard K Power 100 launch event in August.

Beyond honorary awards, many P-pop grpups showcased their exceptional talent and captivating performances on the global stage. BINI and G22, in particular, inspired audiences with their iconic stage presence on the Chinese reality show 'Show It All'.

As P-pop groups continue to rise on the global stage, other Filipino artists are also gaining international recognition. Filipina singer Beabadoobee made headlines as she was announced as one of the performers at Coachella. She'll share the stage with global superstars like Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Post Malone. In addition to performing internationally, OPM (Original Pilipino Music) continues to capture the attention of global audiences. Lola Amour's hit song "Raining in Manila" remains a fan favorite both locally and internationally. The song's popularity even caught the ear of K-pop stars. Such as EXO's Chanyeol performing it twice during his Manila leg tour, as well as in South Korea and Japan.

K-pop

Many Filipino stars have been making their mark in the K-pop industry this year, showcasing their incredible talent and dedication. Filipino group Hori7on continues to captivate global fans with their natural abilities as idols, proving their mettle in the competitive K-pop scene. K-pop group UNIS also stands out with Filipina members Gehlee Dangca, Elisia Parmisano, and Filipina-Korean singer Jin Hyeonju, adding a unique Filipino flair to the group's international appeal. Meanwhile, the global girl group Katseye, led by Filipina member Sohpia, continues to charm fans with their captivating performances, further solidifying their place in the K-pop world.

The Philippines' entertainment industry garnered numerous global awards and recognitions across various fields this year. 'It's Showtime' host Anne Curtis had a memorable moment as she met her Madame Tussauds wax figure, which was set to be displayed in Hong Kong. Madame Tussauds highlighted that Anne was the first Filipino actress and host to have a wax figure showcased at the museum.

In addition to this prestigious recognition, several Filipino personalities and television series earned accolades at global events. GMA Network proudly triumphed at the 2024 Asian Academy Creative Awards, with Kapuso programs and artists winning multiple awards in several categories.
