There will be no Comic-Con in 2020.
The highly-anticipated San Diego Comic-Con has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
"Recognizing that countless attendees save and plan for its conventions each year, and how many exhibitors and stakeholders rely upon its events for a major portion of their livelihood, they had hoped to delay this decision in anticipation that COVID-19 concerns might lessen by summer.
"Continuous monitoring of health advisories and recent statements by the Governor of California have made it clear that it would not be safe to move forward with plans for this year," a statement released on the their official website reads.
This is the first time that the event has been canceled in the 50-year history of the convention.
Comic-Con 2020 was originally set to be held from July 23 to 26 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Those who have already purchased badges may request for a refund or have their badges transferred to next year's Comic-Con.
Comic-Con is set to return next year, from July 22 to 25, 2021.
The San Diego Comic-Con is an annual pop culture convention which showcases comic books, film, television shows, anime, manga, collectible toys and many others through various exhibitions, screenings, seminars, and workshops.
