46th MMFF

This year's pandemic has changed the 46th MMFF Parade of the Stars. Take a look at it's first ever virtual parade.

The 46th Metro Manila Film Festival's (MMFF) organizer, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), is holding their yearly Parade of the Stars "purely online."

The MMFF has collaborated with Globe Telecom and Upstream for the MMFF to continue the tradition of the MMFF Parade of the Stars which has been done yearly through a float parade inspired by the movie entries trailing along the streets of Metro Manila. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the two-week-long event will be held virtually through MMFF's official Facebook.

The announcement of the nominees, as well as the parade, transitioned into an online video conference call via the streaming platform Upstream.ph.

The live stream was uploaded on MMFF's Official Facebook.

Viewers can watch the 10 participating movies starting today, December 25, until January 7, 2021.

Among the entries are The Boy Foretold by the Stars, The Missing, and Magikland. Read the full list of nominees here:

The awarding ceremony, known as Gabi ng Parangal, will take place on December 27 at 7 P.M. and can be viewed on the MMFF's Facebook page.

Among the categories for awards are the Best Screenplay, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress and Actor in a Lead Role, Best Actress and Actor in a Supporting Role, Gender Sensitivity Award, Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Awards, FPJ Memorial Award among others.

MMFF Executive Chair Romando “Don” Artes said in a press video that MMFF tickets can be purchased at P250 each. “For this price, not only one person but the whole family can watch. You also experience the film with a group,” he announced.

He added, "We will be strict in observing proper health protocols,” Artes pointed out. “Also, no movie house will be opened for the MMFF. We don't want this to be a venue for spreading the virus.”

In 2019, Brillante Mendoza's Mindanao won top awards including Best Picture, Best Actor for Allen Dizon, Best Actress for Judy Ann Santos, and Best Child Performer for Yuna Tangog.

Mindanao also won the two special MMFF awards, The Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award and Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award.

Write About Love was also a big winner, earning Best Supporting Actress for Yeng Constantino and Best Supporting Actor for Joem Bascon.
