Amidst everything that's been going on, it's important to pause and take care of your well-being. We've listed five suggestions from 'Ang Pinaka' to help you manage stress.

A great deal of bills to pay. Worsening traffic situation. Deadlines to meet. A number of social circles to be part of. A lifestyle to maintain. There are just so many stressors in this world, and we're not exaggerating.

Amidst everything that's been going on, it's important to pause and take care of your well-being. We've listed five suggestions from Ang Pinaka to help you manage stress.

1. Exercise regularly.

According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, exercise is good for mental fitness. Physical activities stimulate the release of endorphins, a.k.a. the “happy hormones.” When your body feels good, it also benefits the mind.

2. Avoid excessive amounts of caffeine.

Consuming food and drinks that contain caffeine like chocolates and coffee has good effects on one's health, mood, and physical and mental performance. However, high doses of caffeine may have side effects too.

According to healthline.com, too much caffeine may cause anxiety and nervousness. Caffeine may also trigger the production of more cortisol, known as the “stress hormone.”

3. Have a “me” day once in a while.

People who experience a lot of stress tend to deprive themselves of self-care, and this denial of a “me time” only adds more stress.

Taking care of yourself addresses your basic needs and helps you build resilience towards other stressors in life. Self-care has positive effects on one's physical and emotional health, too.

4. Adopt good sleeping habits.

Dr. Raymond Jean, Director of Sleep Medicine and Associate Director of Critical Care at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, says it best, “If you sleep better, you can certainly live better.”

Sleepscore.com echoes the same message, stating, “Following a regular sleep routine calms and restores the body, improves concentration, regulates mood, and sharpens judgment and decision-making.”

5. Practice deep breathing exercises.

This might be the easiest way to relieve yourself some stress -- practice deep breathing. Doing this relaxes the mind. Michigan Medicine explains, “Those things that happen when you are stressed, such as increased heart rate, fast breathing, and high blood pressure, all decrease as you breathe deeply to relax.”

It's true that stress is an inevitable part of life, but you can do something about it. Try any of these suggestions to get yourself some relief!
