With 2020 about to close, we're looking forward to next year to hopefully make up for all the lost time and moments because of the pandemic.
We're of course wishing that we'll be free to go around to visit places with our friends and loved ones.
In the meantime, it wouldn't hurt to start planning our itinerary just in case things go back to normal.
Here are some places that you might want to check out soon.
Sine Pop

Running a movie house takes guts in these uncertain times. So kudos to this boutique cinema for keeping the faith and the flame alive.
What started as a pop-up screening event has become a permanent space for film screenings. The venue is a restored 1948 house - cool! The house pretty much retains its old features but is mixed also with a bit of industrial touch to serve its current purpose.
Sine Pop is open and holds screenings although in a limited capacity. Many predict that this place will be a go-to venue once things normalize after the pandemic.

Calvo Museum

Although not new, this museum housed in the historic Calvo Building is often overlooked when talking about museums worth visiting. It doesn't help too that there's no screaming signage promoting it for people to see.
This museum though is a time capsule and a must-visit for history buffs. Here, you'll find lots of memorabilia, items, photos, posters, and more - all providing a glimpse of Manila's glorious past.
By the way, Calvo Building is considered the birthplace of GMA Network. Yes, this art deco structure witnessed the birth of radio station dzBB operated by American war correspondent and eventual GMA Network founder, Robert “Uncle Bob” Stewart.
The whole stretch of Binondo and Escolta is filled with interesting spots all worth exploring.
Make sure to check out the nearby (and equally historic) First United Building. The building is home to a co-working space, a barbershop, Fred's Revolucion resto-bar, and the cozy The Den Coffee and Contemporary Culture.
Location: 266 Escolta Street, Manila, Muelle Del Banco Nacional, Binondo, Manila, Metro Manila
Batala Bar

Nestled inside the Walled City of Intramuros is this homey bar that focuses on homegrown specialties.
Sample local craft beer or Philippine coffee and ice cream to refresh you after a long walk around the historic district built way back during the Spanish period.
Batala Bar is owned by Bryan Benitez McClelland, the same guy who runs the bamboo bike social enterprise Bambike.

El Deposito tunnel

Follow the tracks of brave Katipuneros by catching a glimpse of this old underground water reservoir in San Juan City.
This same reservoir was the site where the first fuse of the Philippine Revolution against Spain was lit in 1896.
The tunnel was recently rehabilitated and reconstructed to allow people to access it.
The City of San Juan has included the El Deposito tunnel among the attractions for its historical bike tour to be launched next year.
And if you happen to be in San Juan, you might as well check out the El Deposito Museum and the Museo ng Katipunan to fully immerse yourself in history.
Location: 29 Pinaglabanan Street, San Juan City
