The year 2020 is finally here and we're all looking forward to all the great things that the new year -and new decade--has to offer. Among these, of course, is great music.
So, for those of you who are on your toes for new music to stream or download, better check out these seven promising albums that are either confirmed or rumored to be dropping this 2020.
Miley's upcoming seventh studio album was originally scheduled for a 2019 release. However, several life happenings have delayed the progress on the project, such as Miley's divorce from husband Liam Hemsworth and her vocal cord surgery.
She had already released two singles from She is Miley Cyrus in 2019, namely: "Mother's Daughter" and "Slide Away."
And on January 1, 2020, she posted an almost 10-minute video on her YouTube channel titled Miley Cyrus Decade Video: 10 Years in 10 minutes, and the last few seconds of it seemed to be a teaser of new music, and was labeled with text: "2020 NEW ERA STARTS NOW."
No release date has been announced yet, but the video was enough to get all Smilers even more excited for the new album.
Rare, the third solo studio album of Selena Gomez, is set to be released on January 10, 2020. Its lead single "Lose You to Love Me" was released last October 23, 2019, while the second single from the album, "Look at Her Now," was dropped the following day.
"Lose You to Love Me" is Selena's first number one single in the US, and is speculated to be about her equally famous ex-bf, Justin Bieber.
Rare consists of 13 tracks and we're sure Selenators all over the world are stoked to begin the year 2020 with the release of Selena's new album.
On January 17, 2020, Halsey will be dropping her most-anticipated third studio album, Manic. It will include songs like "Graveyard" and "Without Me," her 2018 Billboard Hot 100 number-one single, which is also her first number-one single as a lead artist.
Halsey had revealed the tracklist for Manic on her Instagram last December 3, 2019. The album consists of 16 songs, and it will feature artists like Dominic Fike, Alanis Morissette, and Suga of BTS.
So, Halsey fans, just hang on, the release date is getting closer -almost just two weeks away.
In 2019, Rihanna became the richest female musician in the world. It's no secret that she has expanded her horizons over the last few years.
She's starred in several movies and built her fashion and make-up empire. But RiRi's fans are still anxiously waiting for the release of the album she's been working on, which she described in an interview with Vogue as reggae-infused.
As of writing, there's still no confirmed release date for RiRi's album. And she's repeatedly trolled her fans whenever they bug her for it. It was first rumored to be released in 2019 but didn't push through.
So, let's all keep our fingers crossed that RiRi will finally release it this 2020.
Last November 1, 2019, Dua Lipa released "Don't Start Now," the lead single for her upcoming disco-pop album Future Nostalgia. And along with the release of the single, she has also released a music video, where she simultaneously debuted her two-tone hair color.
There's no definite release date yet for Future Nostalgia, but in an interview with BBC News, Dua promised that the album would be a "nostalgic" pop record that "feels like a dancercise class.”
In 2019, Justin had given several hints about an upcoming album. On Oct. 27, he posted “R&Bieber” on Instagram, and later told his more than 120 million followers that he'll release an album before Christmas if he gets 20 million likes.
No Justin Bieber album dropped before Christmas, but on November 13, 2019, news broke that his legal team had formally filed documents to trademark “R&Bieber”. Several news agencies have reported that Justin wants to trademark the term “for entertainment services in the nature of live musical performances and production of sound recordings.” That's why many are speculating that it could be the title of his upcoming album and that he's soon going to transition from pop idol to R&B superstar.
While there's no confirmation yet whether “R&Bieber” is his next album and when it's going to be released, Beliebers have been given an end-of-year treat when a YouTube Originals teaser for a Justin Bieber docuseries was released last Dec. 31, 2019. Its title is Justin Bieber: Seasons, and it will show people what Justin has been up to during his 4-year hiatus, and more importantly, it will let us all in on the whole creative process for his upcoming album.
Last April 2019, it was announced that Adele and husband Simon Konecki have separated.
And because of this, Adele's fans have speculated that The Queen of Heartbreak Songs will probably release new music after the split.
To which the 15-time Grammy winner responded in jest, “Bunch of f___ing savages, 30 will be a drum 'n' bass record to spite you.”
There's no release date yet for 30, but we expect it to break the internet and break records as well, just like when Adele released Hello after a long hiatus.
That's our early treat for you, music lovers. Hope you're just as excited as we are to stream and download these new albums, and create a 2020 playlist. Cheers to new songs that'll definitely define a new decade in music!
