On Tuesday, January 9, hundreds of thousands Catholic devotees will flock again to the Quirino Grandstand for the return of the Black Nazarene Procession or Traslación.
Most of us put our devotion first and make sacrifices in order to join the procession.
However, we pray that this year, there will be less or no injuries at all during the Traslación
So, here are our tips on how we could all avoid harm and experience a solemn Black Nazarene Procession this year.

Get enough sleep a day before the procession and make sure to stay hydrated. Elderlies are discouraged from joining the Traslación to avoid any untoward incidents.
It will be a struggle to carry many things or one bag that's extremely heavy. So, better bring only the essentials like drinking water, a face towel, an extra shirt, and other things you'll be using.
There will be a sea of people and sometimes being pushed or pulled can not be avoided, so it's good to bring someone with you so you can look after each other. Also, during worst-case scenarios, someone can get help for you in case there's a medical emergency.
If it cannot be avoided and you need to bring your child along, make sure to write your child's name, address, your name, and also your contact number. In case your child gets lost in the crowd, people will know who the child's companion is and where to contact you.
Observe warning signs and watch out for things that could possibly hurt you or your companions, especially when people in the crowd start to push and pull one another.
Be sure to heed warnings and follow instructions from persons in authority during the procession. Keep in mind that whatever rules or procedures they implement, they're there for your safety.
Bring with you an extra ounce of patience, since we all know that the Black Nazarene procession could be physically exhausting, and we might encounter unagreeable people. Also, keep in mind that it is a holy procession and not a street party. So, observe proper behavior all throughout.
We hope you found these tips helpful and we pray for a safe and solemn Traslación this 2024.
