In an iGMA exclusive, we were privy to the behind the scenes of Nuts Entertainment’s Balakubak segment.
It is always a riot when the Balakubak ladies, Popsicle, Doughnut and Lollipop go on stage and interview their unsuspecting guests. Mauricio Getting ready for Nuts Entertainment's famous segment, the Balakubak hosts were making everything look enjoyable and exciting. As if girls who are thrilled about their make-up an dresses, the three hosts were making a big fuss over how they look. "Marunong ka bang maglagay nito?" asks Joey de Leon (Doughnut) to one of the production assistants referring to his wig. He has apparently brought his own wig and is looking for someone to put it on for him. Janno Gibbs (Lollipop) on the other hand is very sexy in his very revealing top! "Wala kayo niyan!" was Janno’s comment to us, referring to his cleavage. He was actually enjoying showing off his wares and admits that he makes an effort to create a good ensemble every week for Balakubak. Anything goes As always, the guest in Balakubak is treated to a wacky collection of questions from the crazy hosts and we were lucky to catch Paolo Bediones who was promoting his newest show- Survivor before he went on camera. "Hindi naman ako ninerbyos. Kung ayaw mong sagutin, wag mong sagutin. At saka fun lang naman e," says the Survivor host when iGMA asked him if he has any reservations with regards to the questions that Popsicle, Doughnut and Lollipop might throw at him. And indeed some of the issues came as surprise to both Paolo and the viewers. After the segment, we asked Janno whether they planned some of the questions or whether they had a script. "Wala talaga kaming script, meron kaming info sheet, na nakalagay dun 'yung ginawa nilang pelikula at 'yung mga hobbies nya. Ganun lang, tapos bahala na kaming gumawa ng questions," shares Lollipop. He also adds that he believes that the charm of this segment lies on the spontaneity of the hosts and the guests. "Actually hindi naman kailangan ng new gimik ng Balakubak. As it is nage-enjoy naman ang tao. Ang pinapanood mo naman e 'yung interview talaga. Kung ano 'yung tinatanong namin," quips Janno.
