The title may sound fancy but being a highly acclaimed director is all about hard work and loving your work. Director Mac Alejandre, whose current project is the top rating Sineserye Kung Mahawi Man Ang Ulap, shares the real deal involving this tedious yet fulfilling job. During the presscon of Kung Mahawi Man Ang Ulap Direk Mac revealed his reason why he wanted to direk the show, “The material was so good that it inspired me.” According to Direk Mac inspiration is one the key angles to the success of any director, “Once the objective is defined, everyone should be hooked and after that it’s going to be a clear voyage.” He adds that no matter how difficult the situation maybe as long as everyone is involved, in the end it will turn out the way it was meant to be. “Lagi kasi akong management by objective.” Another thing that Direk values in his work ethics is the way he manages his time. With his toxic schedule, he advises that time management is vital in a director’s way of living, “I’ve learned to manage my time early in my career. I wouldn’t have done the things that I did without it.” Time management may be important but his ultimate strength among all the local directors is his romantic involvement with his work. “Work for me is always exciting.” He explains that he concentrates on how to present a show beautifully on screen and it’s effectiveness to entertain rather than the ratings or the show’s slot. “Whether it be in a primetime slot or not, it’s always fulfilling for a director to be working and to have an audience.” Another thing that excites Direk Mac is working with his actors. “I always get excited working with young people, kasi these are the young people that you mold.” Most of the cast of Kung Mahawi Man Ang Ulap are working with him for the first time. “These are the young people that are promising and raw.” The main joy of working with new actors is seeing them evolve from a novice to an expert on screen. “Through the years nakikita mo yung developments nila, nakikita mo yung potential.” For Direk Mac Alejandre directing isn’t all about the title or the money. It’s about discipline, providing guidance and loving your job.
