There’s a rogue on the loose and he is out to get anybody who stands in his way. Ambitious and willing to do anything to attain his dreams, Alfred will not hesitate to manipulate and exploit women and use them for their money and power. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez, Photos courtesy of GMA Network An award-winning actor, Marvin Agustin is one of GMA’s gems when it comes to drama. As a result, his home network has lined up for him a number of challenging roles to portray. One of these characters and his most current one is Alfred of Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita. Ambitious Alfred A conman with grand dreams of becoming rich and powerful, Alfred is one of the main characters in Gilda Olvidado’s Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita. He doesn’t mind using other people to achieve his dreams and he is determined to get what he wants by hook or by crook. “Ito na 'yung character ko na pinaka masama,” says Marvin who seems to enjoy talking about his role on the show. He adds that he is quite happy with the viewer’s reactions to his character because he can effectively gauge how successful he is in playing a bad guy. “Nakakatuwa nga, dahil sa halip na Marvin and tawag nila sa akin, ‘Mayor Alfred’ na ang tawag nila ngayon.” He further adds that he has to defend his actions to some fans because of the gravity of his evil ways in the story. “Kapag tinatanong nila ako kung bakit ako pumapatay, sagot ko sa kanila, ako ang papatayin ni Direk Joel [Lamangan] kapag hindi ko sinunod 'yung utos niya. Nag-e-explain talaga ako, maganda na 'yung malinaw, ‘hindi po ako 'yung nasusunod, ang mastermind po dito e 'yung director (smiles),’” shares the multi-talented actor about his hateful character. A rogue for real? Though evil in his current show, Marvin assures us that his next project will redeem his image to the viewers and loyal followers of the Kapuso network. “Babawiin ulit ng GMA, pababaiitin na naman nila ulit ako,” confesses Marvin sheepishly. He said that he welcomes any role that GMA is giving him because he trusts his home network and he has no qualms in being a good or a bad guy or whether its time slot is on primetime or daytime. “Mahal ko po kasi 'yung trabaho ko at naniniwala akong kapag mahal mo 'yung trabaho mo, mamahalin ka rin nito. Wala rin pong diperensiya kung sa primetime o sa afternoon drama ako mapapanood. Ang acting po kasi walang pinipiling oras. Ang mga televiewers po, wala ring pinipiling oras. Kung saan maganda ang mapapanood nila, doon sila,” says the actor confidently. His professionalism and positive demeanor are obviously well-lauded by the cast and production of the show. No doubt Marvin is no rogue when it comes to acting but he definitely can portray one effectively.
