Gretchen Fullido files sexual harassment and libel charges against two ABS-CBN executives and three of her colleagues. The network in turn issues a statement saying that it respects Fullido's decision to bring the matter to court.
Long-time ABS-CBN showbiz anchor Gretchen Fullido shocked everyone when she filed criminal cases against her co-workers and some network executives before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office yesterday, October 5.
In a statement posted on Facebook by Fullido's lawyer Marivin Aceron, she filed a sexual harassment case against Cheryl C. Favila, former ABS-CBN News Executive, and Maricar P. Asprec, ABS-CBN News Segment Producer.
In addition, two news executives of ABS-CBN and a reporter also faces libel charges after Fullido alleged that the three besmirched her reputation.
“Gretchen Marie Fullido, ABS-CBN anchor and reporter, filed this afternoon a sexual harassment case against Cheryl C. Favila, former ABS-CBN News Executive, and Maricar P. Asprec, ABS-CBN News Segment Producer. The case was filed before the City Prosecutors' Office of Quezon City.
Fullido alleged that Favila and Asprec sent her text messages that were "loaded with sexual innuendos," which amounted to requests for sexual favors. She further stated that when she "rejected" the "advances," the two "retaliated" and made it difficult for her to work as a reporter and news anchor for TV Patrol.
Still according to Fullido, it was a cycle that went on for almost three years.
Fullido also filed libel charges against two news executives, Cecilia “Ces” Drilon and Venancio Borromeo, news reporter Marie Lozano, alleging that the three besmirched her reputation when they stated that she filed a similar sexual harassment complaint against Favila and Asprec with ABS-CBN management to leverage her employment status with ABS-CBN.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN released an official statement about the matter and stressed that they respect Grecthen Fullido's decision to bring her sexual harassment complaint to the courts.

"ABS-CBN respects the right of news anchor and reporter Gretchen Marie Fullido to bring her sexual harassment complaint to the courts. Now that she has filed charges with the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office, we expect all parties to allow the legal process to take its course.
"ABS-CBN takes sexual harassment seriously and does not condone such acts in the workplace or by its employees.
"When Ms. Fullido filed an administrative case against a supervising producer and a segment producer for alleged sexual harassment in November 2017, the company took prompt action on the administrative complaint and decided based on the evidence presented.
"Before becoming a Star Patroller for TV Patrol, she is a former UAAP courtside reporter for the University of the Philippines Fighthing Maroons."
