Adam Schlesinger, member of the early 2000's pop-rock band Fountains of Wayne, had succumbed to the coronavirus disease on April 1, at a hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York. The 52-year-old rocker died after being hospitalized and placed on a ventilator two weeks ago.

Adam's band Fountains of Wayne is best remembered for their hit song 'Stacy's Mom', a song which he co-wrote and got them two Grammy Awards nominations in 2003.
However, Adam also had some other notable work outside of being a bass player, songwriter, and backing vocals for Fountains of Wayne.

One of those is writing the title track for the Tom Hanks-directed musical-comedy film 'That Thing You Do', which earned him nominations for an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award.
Since Adam's passing celebrities and people who have worked with him in the entertainment industry had expressed their sadness over his death.
Among them were Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen King, Kathy Griffin, Darren Criss, Fran Drescher, James Gunn, musician Jack Antonoff, and the band Dashboard Confessional.
But, most notable among the tributes for Adam was the one from Tom Hanks -- who not only got to work with him - but has also been infected with COVID-19 almost a month ago.
Tom tweeted, “There would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his That Thing You Do! He was a One-der. Lost him to Covid-19. Terribly sad today. Hanx.”
