But eating papaya, as opposed to just rubbing it on the skin, has many health benefits too.

According to Healthline, papaya is loaded with antioxidants that can reduce inflammation. It also has vitamin C, vitamin A, and folate.

Chef Gilly Gomez shares three recipes which can help you introduce papaya to your diet.

Here's the recipe for his Chicken Papaya Fajitas:

Ingredients
diced green papaya
garlic
onion
oil
chicken, cut into bite-sized chunks then marinated in salt, pepper and cumin
red and yellow bellpepper
young corn
pineapple chunks
boiled and diced kamote
chopped avocado
salt
pepper
cumin
tortillas

How to prepare
1. Saute garlic and onion
2. Add marinated chicken
3. When chicken is half cooked, add red and yellow bellpeper and young corn
4. When chicken is fully cooked, add pineapple chunks, boiled kamote, green papaya, and avocado
5. Add salt, pepper and cumin to taste
6. Serve on a hot plate with tortillas
