Letty (Aiai Delas Alas) was diagnosed with myoma, shattering her dreams of becoming a mother. Until her husband, Bong (Antonio Aquitania), arrived at their house with an abandoned baby.

New GMA afternoon drama Raising Mamay started airing on Monday, April 25, and it didn't fail to warm its viewers' hearts.

Its pilot episode introduced Letty (Aai Delas Alas) and Bong (Antonio Aquitania), a childless couple.

Due to Letty's myoma, she bled and had to undergo hysterectomy--the reason why she can't bear children.

However, Letty's dream of becoming a mother was granted when they adopted the abandoned baby of Bong's friend and co-worker Monching's (Orland Sol) maid. Letty and Bong named the baby--a girl--Abigail (Shayne Sava).

Letty and Abigail have a very loving and sweet relationship. They have mother-daughter rituals like eating pandesal and cocoa powder as Letty's comfort food. Letty even has an endearing gesture to Abigail calling her daughter, “Abi kong mabait, Abi kong matapang, Abi kong minamahal.” In return, Abigail loves to call her mother "Mamay."

Netizens are pleased to see Raising Mamay marking Aiai's comeback to mother roles that she is known for.

'Ang Tanging Ina is BACK," Facebook user Melchor Labisora exclaimed, indicating the Comedy Queen's blockbuster movie.

Aiai's inaugural tandem with Shayne was also praised by netizens because of their good rapport on TV.

A certain Amiel Tristan Castro, "Perfect story. Perfect casting! Salamat kay Ms. Ai Ai. Deserve niya ung role! Galing niya. Plus si shayne sava. Pinatunayan niyang magaling din siya at kaya na niyang sumabay sa mga beterano."

Meanwhile, according to viewer Lads Sorio, it's refreshing to see Aia in a teleserye.

"Makikita ko na mag heavy drama si Miss Aiai di lang sa movie sa television Naman ngayon di lang Siya magaling mag patawa magaling din Siya mag paiyak huhuhuh," Lads said.

The viewer also noted Raising Mamay as Shayne's first big break.

"and to Shayne Sava big break mo na to girlll support ko talaga to."

Raising Mamay airs weekdays at 3:25 in the afternoon on GMA.
